about

Crossing The Street represents both the return and the departure of Cornelia $t. Lemz.

Hold on. Say what?

Let me explain: In many ways, Crossing The Street is a transition between the past and the future. The songs on this project cover almost two years of Lemz's life. It was a special time period, during which the young musician had many profound life experiences, venturing out into the world and leaving his home in Brooklyn NYC for weeks (sometimes even months) at a time. And yet Crossing The Street is more than a collection of all the songs from that part of Lemz' life. Rather, it is a carefully-picked selection meant to both put a book end on Lemz' past and to offer a glimpse into where Lemz is going in 2014. So in many ways, releasing this project is Lemz's way of crossing into new territory, transitioning from the past to the future in style.

The majority of the production on Crossing The Street was handled by the infamous Manuel Silva of sUPER mARVELOUS and The 4DFoundation. Now going by the name Manny Sachem, Manuel is renowned in indie New York Hip Hop circles as that producer to try to get a beat from. Recognizing something special in Lemz, Manny opened up his catalogue of unreleased beats and began blessing Lemz with some of his finest production yet. In fact, a good deal of these beats were created by Manny while Lemz was in the room with him, vibbing off of the sound and offering his opinions. Truly, this project represents a great collaboration between the two, and many have wondered when Lemz and Manny will do an entire album together.

Dwizzy Bodega from Acrylic Style represents hard with The Return, his contribution to the project and a definite high point. Mr. 523 returns in full force, providing Lemz once again with that heat we expect from him. And of course it wouldn't' be a Cornelia $t.Lemz album if the man himself didn't provide some of his own production.

Oh and the collaborations on this joint? Bananas. Do yourself a favor and listen to the whole project, don't just skip to that fire. You'll be happy.

All in all, Crossing The Street is that straight fire dope shit. But if you're a fan of Lemz, you already knew that. Homebody doesn't slack and this project definitely lives up to the high standard set by Mix'd Messages.
